Two studies show that patients suffering from chronic pain are using marijuana instead of addictive pharmaceuticals to help them manage the pain. The studies are an addition to the growing body of research on the importance of marijuana in the growing opioid crisis in the United States. The first study, carried out by researchers from Florida International University, investigated if managing pain was the only reason people substituted opioids with marijuana.
