Ascend Wellness Holdings (“AWH”) on Thursday announced that the company has become one of the first cultivators to receive state approval to supply the Illinois recreational cannabis market. Per the update, AWH’s Barry, Illinois cultivation facility was awarded one of the first six recreational-use cultivation licenses issued in Illinois. Receipt of this license certifies that the company will be able to supply the Illinois recreational adult-use cannabis market when it launches on January 1, 2020. Additionally, the company detailed its plans to convert its current HCI brand dispensaries in Springfield and Collinsville to adult-use under the Illinois Provisions brand. AWH also intends to open two more dispensaries under the Illinois Provisions brand in 2020.
