The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released a report that provides details about the status of the hemp industry in neighboring Canada. The six-page document which was authored by the Agriculture Attaché Evan Mangino indicates that while hemp was legalized in Canada close to 20 years ago and the U.S. only did so last year, the two countries are facing identical regulatory challenges. A quarter of a million dollars is being handed by a U.S. federal agency to a biotech company so that research into how dangerous pesticides can be removed from several crops, including marijuana, can be done. Brooklyn Bioscience is the lucky startup that won the two-year grant worth $250,000 from the National Science Foundation. According to Israeli media, the government has issued an additional seven medical marijuana cultivation licenses. This decision will result in the tripling of the amount of medical marijuana grown in the country.
