Canopy Rivers, one of the largest growers and suppliers of medical marijuana in the world, has invested $1.5 million in BioLumic, an agri-tech company based in New Zealand. Lawmakers in Nebraska started debating a proposal to legalize medical marijuana in the state as cannabis advocates pushed to put the matter before voters next year. Cannabis advocates are unhappy about the legalization bill because, in their view, it is too narrow and restrictive. Medical marijuana was legalized in Ohio in 2016 and sales only started this year. Figures coming in from the state show that only 15,339 of the patients who hold medical marijuana cards have so far visited a dispensary and purchased medicinal marijuana products.
