Despite the Mexican Senate having approved marijuana legislation in November, Chamber of Deputies legislators agreed to ask for the deadline to be extended from Mexico’s Supreme Court earlier this week. Earlier in 2018, the court had ruled that it was unconstitutional to prohibit the personal use of and the growing of cannabis. Legislators were ordered by the court to formally put an end to this criminalization by October 2019.
