Championing Female Representation in Canada’s Emerging Psychedelics Market

WCC Conference

There is a global resurgence in the interest in psychedelics. With scientific, medical, and mental health communities revisiting its potential therapeutic benefits, psychedelics are being touted for its potential to treat addictions, mental health, cancer, amongst other ailments.

This year alone, Canada experienced its most significant breakthrough with psychedelics after Minister of Health Patty Hajdu granted drug exemptions to four Canadians with terminal cancer to pursue psilocybin therapy. This marked the first known patients to legally use psilocybin since the compound became illegal in Canada in 1974.

While the growing interest in psychedelics is exciting, historically the discourse around psychedelics has tended to overshadow women’s contributions to the field. Paving the way forward to champion equal representation and profile women in psychedelics is Canndora, who recently announced its new industry event: #CanndoraConnect: Women in Psychedelics.

A virtual event, #CanndoraConnect: Women in Psychedelics is open to audiences worldwide and takes place 2:00-4:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020. The event will gather leading experts for networking opportunities and share best practices in the emerging industry of psychedelics. Speakers include Ann Barnes, Director of Red Light Holland; Sarah Hashkes, CEO of Radix Motion; Dr. Olga Chernoloz, Chief Scientific Officer of WAKE; Terri Smith, Chief Mycologist of WAKE; Irie Selkirk, Co-founder and Director of Rise Wellness Retreats; and more.

According to Dr. Olga Chernoloz, 2020 is positioned to be the year the voice of psychedelic renaissance has been heard the loudest. So far the data streaming from the psychedelic clinical studies has been exceptionally promising and gives hope to the development and recognition of new treatment modalities for the support of mental health. Women, often disproportionately affected by these conditions, could find a way to re-process the underlying emotional content and find balance with help of the psychedelic-assisted therapy.

A trusted global media and event platform for women in emerging markets, Canndora’s psychedelics-focused event is positioned to be a hailed success. #CanndoraConnect: Women in Psychedelics is made possible with support from presenting partners, Red Light Holland (CSE: TRIP | OTC: TRUFF | FSE: 4YX), WAKE and Marigold Marketing & PR, as well as media partners Cannabis Prospect Magazine, CannabisNewsWire, PsyIndex, Microdose and PsychedelicsNewsWire and community partners Canadian Psychedelic Association and Numinus.

The #CanndoraConnect event is open to those who are 19+. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite for $15 each. For more information, visit https://canndora.com/.
