Emulsions are mixtures of two liquids which are largely immiscible without the aid of emulsifying chemicals, such as surfactants. The smaller the droplet size for any given volume of dispersed liquid, the greater the absorption and bioavailability of active compounds. Nanoemulsions produce dispersed droplets with exceptionally small diameters, measured in nanometers.
