NECANN Boston 2020 to Feature Workshop on Host Community Agreements

For those contemplating entry into the commercial cannabis space in Massachusetts, a visit to NECANN Boston 2020 seems imperative. Slated for March 20-22, 2020, at the Hynes Convention Center, NECANN Boston 2020 will feature a workshop devoted to ‘Successfully Navigating the Mass Local Host Community Approval Process’.

Massachusetts state law requires cannabis enterprises to execute a host community agreement (HCA) with the municipality in which they will be located. The focused workshop will provide valuable insight for those looking into the venture, and that’s only the beginning of what NECANN Boston 2020 has to offer. Additional conference workshops will focus on other intriguing topics, such as hemp cultivation and how to ‘Increase your Social Capital to Raise Capital’. With each of its content offerings, NECANN Boston 2020 continues the heritage of NECANN trade shows, combining educational and informative content with extensive product displays.

NECANN workshops feature expert participants discussing a variety of critical issues. The HCA workshop panel will include:

  • Blake Mensing, an attorney and expert in cannabis law who has served as counsel for seven municipalities;
  • Laury Lucian, owner of cannabis businesses and a trainer in the state’s social equity program;
  • Kate Feodoroff, an attorney who has successfully negotiated several HCA agreements; and
  • Shaleen Title, one of five commissioners sitting on the state Cannabis Control Commission (CCC).

The HCA workshop will be moderated by David Rabinovitz, CEO of the NewCann Group. Rabinovitz has quite a story to tell. NewCann is the first company that has gotten a municipality to sign an HCA without identifying a location for the business (http://cnw.fm/ge7LB).

Last year’s NECANN Boston event was a huge success. The conference featured over 100 speakers and more than 300 exhibits. This year, a similar assortment of product and companies will be on display, with exhibiting companies coming from a variety of sectors. Equipment and lighting, nutrients and other supplies, as well as range of services such as legal, HVAC, IT, packaging, labeling, security, real estate, staffing, HR and brokerage are all areas that are expected to be well represented. Seed exhibits will be located at the Hempest, and, while some legal CBD products and seeds will be on sale, none containing THC will be displayed, given away or sold.

NECANN events have become fixtures in the cannabis sphere since they began in 2014. Conferences hosted by the organization consistently attract the largest number of hemp, MMJ and cannabis industry professionals. More than 10,000 industry professionals are expected to attend NECANN Boston 2020, earning it, perhaps, the title of the East Coast’s largest cannabis industry event.
